Monday’s Den: Wrapping up a sports Sunday……..

— Mariners 12, Mets 1
Mets scored one run in their three losses in Seattle.
Mets finish a brutal 3-7 road trip:

lost 2 of 3 in Anaheim
a 6-0 win in their one game in St Louis.
won 2 of 3 in Colorado
outscored 22-1 in the sweep at Seattle, with the last game the Sunday night game, meaning they didn’t get back to New York until early Monday morning.

— ESPN showing Sunday night’s game was the first time since 2004 they had broadcast a Mariners’ home game on a Sunday night.

— Mariners have used only seven starting pitchers this season, amazingly good health in an age where pitchers seem to get hurt every other day.

— One last Seattle note: Ichiro Suzuki is up for the Hall of Fame next year; if he isn’t voted into the Hall unanimously, the person/people who don’t vote for him should lose the right to vote.

Think about it: Mariano Rivera is the only unanimous choice into the Hall of Fame; who didn’t vote for these people????

Hank Aaron, Willie Mays, Rickey Henderson, Mickey Mantle, Ken Griffey Jr and on and on.

I’m just saying, Ichiro needs to get every vote next year.

— Baltimore Orioles were the first team to 70 wins this season.

— Good news/bad news Saturday for Astros rookie Zach Dezenzo:
Good news: He hit his first major league home run.

Bad news: He hit it over the Green Monster out onto Lansdowne Street; it is unclear if he got the baseball back.

— If the baseball playoffs started today (they don’t:)
